Telecommunication Technician

Job Description

We have been chosen one of the service delivery partners to work on Chorus Network, UCG & Visionstream. Projects running across North and South Island. We are seeking Telecommunications Technicians (Fibre Optic) to help build and maintain our Clients fiber optic networks to be assigned in Entire South Island , Otago region, Southland region, Canterbury Region, Kaikoura region, Bay Of Plenty , West Coast Region and Marlborough Region as per the job required. We look to fill a fulltime position with a minimum 1 year Fibre Optic experience. Telecommunications Technicians (Fibre Optic) also known as Fibre Optic Technician for general Fibre optics applications work both inside and outside of the buildings, offices and domestic premises and are responsible for the installation of the new Fibre to the home/ repair and provisioning (FTTH) and Ultrafast broadband (UFB) for the customer experience of the new high speed Internet services.

 Job Duties:
 You will be responsible for following duties and should process planning and carrying out the installation of fibre for residential and business customers.

Requirements for the role are as follows:

•Minimum of 1 year experience in Telecommunications is required

•Be able to work unsupervised and within a team

•Strong communication skills - orally and in writing

•Should have a clean , valid and Full Car driving New Zealand License

•Installing and configuring telecommunications equipment and data transmission equipment such as ONT, Router/Modem etc.

•Be fit and healthy.

•The Health, Safety and Well-being of our staff and those we work around is of utmost importance to us and a key element of this role, the ability to display this on a daily, ongoing basis is essential. Should have completed First Aid, TC1/STMS1, WTC1 and WTC3, Risk management ,Network know how course (NGA B & C for SDU and MDU) etc. as required by chorus.

•Efficient in all aspects of Telecommunications network i.e. NGA / UFB fibre cable laying, blowing, splicing, trenching, troubleshooting, Cabling experience in commercial, residential, MDU, SDU & ROW.

•Read and Design network plans, specifications and work areas to determine positioning and connections for equipment to be installed.

•Knowledge of NGA designs & Asbuilts.

• Tracing and locating underground cable faults. Performing outside boundary remediation (OSB) to fix underground faults on both concrete and soft surface.

•Telecommunications, IT study is preferable. Valid NZ Work rights

• No criminal record.
