You will be part of the Heritage team, helping to provide a wide range of services to inspire our community of users and to readily fulfil all their information and research needs as they relate to the history of New Zealand and the Pacific, and particularly our local history. The Heritage Team are responsible for the Ian Matheson City Archives and Manawatu Heritage, our online digital repository, and this role focuses particularly on ensuring the accessibility and preservation of our Council and community archives through processing new collections, contributing to our digitization programme, and the creation, curation and promotion of content.

In this role your professional knowledge and love of history will be an advantage when working directly with our content and the community, in person and from a distance. While much of your time will be spent in working with archives you will also support the wider work of the Heritage team, and the provision of a 7 day a week front facing service.

Experience and/or a qualification in archives is a must, and a knowledge of databases and metadata a definite advantage, in this role. We also want you because you can work autonomously and are self-motivated, you excel at communicating, and you have the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner.
