This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, friendly, and capable educator to join our OSCAR ‘Out of School Care and Recreation' team. We are looking for an outgoing, proactive person with great initiative to assist in the successful delivery of our OSCAR after school and holiday programme care services to primary and intermediate aged children in Paeroa. You will assist in managing the day-to-day operations of an after-school care in a safe, professional, and fun environment, ensuring all OSCAR policies and processes are adhered to and aligned with Ministry requirements. You must be available to work weekdays, Monday to Friday, from between 2:45 pm to 5.30 pm or until the last child has been safely signed out. An example of a typical shift is 2:45pm – 5.00pm or 3.30 pm to 5:30pm or 2.45 pm to 5.30 pm. Extended work hours during the school holidays are definitely available.

Responsibilities: 

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with team members, parents, and children. 
  • Supporting the OSCAR site manager in: o positively promoting the centre within the community. 
  • effectively managing the site in terms of OSCAR compliance and facility management. 
  • providing quality OSCAR childcare throughout all aspects of day to day: Preparing afternoon tea, setting up the venue, proactive positive supervising children at the playground, assisting with homework and reading time, initiating a variety of games and activities etc. 
  • ensuring health & safety is implemented & maintained
